It is the spike (also called “male lavender” or “big lavender”)
Its other botanical name is lavandula latifolia which means “of large leaves”. The leaf is large and smooth. The flower scape is long and can be composed of several bouquets.
The spike is adapted to the heat and limestone soils.
Its natural ground lies below 600 metres of altitude.
It is no longer cultivated in France.
